Recruiting

One mentor and a least two kids make a “book team”. The promise of books helps too.

Every day you and your library staff are recruiting kids to read.

Your students feel welcome. They feel safe. They know that you know there are times they just need to be left alone and times when they need your help. You spend a lot of time reading books and reviews. You think specifically about your youth patrons- you want to find the books that will call to them.

Recruiting for your own Colorado Blue Spruce Young Adult Book Team does not just happen when you put that first poster out saying when the first meeting is, it happens every day- all day.

So, you might as well just leave a poster on your bulletin board that there will be a book team at this school or this library, that lets each of your patrons know that you would love to have them be a part of it.

We are posting posters that mentors made that were successful in speaking to kids. Please share, if you have an example poster.
